Market Day

Maerket day started out dreary and drizzeling but turn out quite nice. The sun came out this afternoon and I was able to finish picking the last of the Cerries and some Beans and beats for supper.

We had our first community farmers market this morning and even though it was moved indoors at The Poi, due to the rain the turn out was pretty good. There were two of us with fresh produce that looked marvelous after a refreshing rain and two of us with homemade jams. the Cuc's were a hit as well as the fresh cherries and cherry jam. I am always surprised how many people want to try new leafy greens. I took Sorrel and Swiss Chard and the rainy day made it a perfect choice as many were making soups for lunch or supper. The best part about these little markets is the people you connect with. Oddly in such a small town we don't really have a place that everybody goes regularly so we don't connect sometimes for months.

Farmers weren't the only people marketing today. Our neighbours house sold. Oh, we will really miss them. I can take years to build the kind of friendship we had with these folks. We squeezed in the last supper tonight. A yummy roast chicken with all the fixens and tried my Saskatoon pie filling in tarts and they were a winner.
